Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups pastry cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  2. In a separate bowl, warm the milk and mix in the melted butter. Add the eggs and whisk to combine.
  3. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into 1-inch thick rounds.
  6. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C) and fry the bombs until golden brown on all sides.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Once cooled, fill with pastry cream and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a twist, consider adding flavored extracts to the pastry cream.
  • Make sure the oil temperature remains stable for even frying.
