  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and mix with milk. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients along with the egg and vanilla. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Let it rise until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut it into squares. Place a spoonful of fruit preserves in the center of each square.
  6. Fold the corners of the squares towards the center and press to seal.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
