CARAMELIZED ONION PASTA

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pasta of your choice
  • 4 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the turkey bacon and cook until crispy.
  3. Add the sliced onions and salt to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. Stir in the black pepper, then add the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  5. Toss the cooked pasta in the sauce and combine well.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
